Notes From the Naturalist: A Place Beyond

We often hear guests remark how far away they feel when at Weekapaug Inn, yet often times they are just two or three hours from their homes in western Connecticut or New York. Weekapaug is a quiet community on the Rhode Island coast, and the Inn is tucked away at the end of Spray Rock Road, surrounded by water on three sides.

It’s a restful spot indeed, and with a big open sky, large bodies of water and windswept dunes, it feels far away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. If you wish to retreat even further, follow our nature path to the eastern-most tip of the Inn’s land, where we have just installed an intimate deck for two, complete with comfy Adirondack chairs overlooking Quonochontaug Pond.

From this picturesque, tucked away location, watch the sunrise while enjoying a cup of coffee as the day begins to warm. As the day progresses, watch a sailing fleet pass by on its way to the races, or close your eyes and feel the ocean breezes cool your sun-kissed skin. In the evening, catch a spectacular moonrise with a cocktail in hand. While you may never want to leave, this little piece of paradise is only big enough for two, so please enjoy and then share with another happy traveler who also loves this spot.
