Wine To-Go: The Connecticut Wine Trail

Are you a budding wine enthusiast, lover or connoisseur?

Luckily, you don’t have to venture out to California to experience the wonders of American wine country – it’s right in our backyard!

Take a day trip out using one of our Mercedez-Benz convertibles and follow along the Connecticut Wine Trail. With six vineyards between Watch Hill and nearby New London, a day of wine tastings and vineyard tours is the perfect way to taste local New England flavor and see how Connecticut-grown grapes create unique wines.

Experience the wonders of American wine country

Begin at Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington, aptly named for the surrounding salt marshes and best known for its Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Set in North Stonington, Stonington Vineyards has won numerous awards for producing premium quality, European-style wines and is best known for its barrel fermented Chardonnays and its proprietary blends.

Jonathan Edwards Winery, also in North Stonington, offers a unique history, featuring a tasting room in a restored 1880 dairy barn, where visitors are encouraged to sample handcrafted Napa Valley, California and Estate Connecticut wines to highlight each coast’s unique climate.

In the rolling hills of Ledyard, Maugle Sierra Vineyards focuses on producing premium Connecticut-grown wines, and specializes in chewy, jammy and intensely fruit-forward wines.

A family-friendly attraction, Holmberg Orchards & Winery in Gales Ferry, offers a laid-back tasting area in the center of an agricultural ecosystem. Enjoy crisp, clean and sophisticated white wines, sparkling hard ciders and fruit wines.

End your day at Preston Ridge Vineyard in Preston, which specializes in Riesling, Triaminette, Vidal Blanc and Baco Noir, as well as breathtaking views of the Connecticut countryside.
